First Camping Trip

I have been saying all summer that we needed to go camping. I've been worried that Landon wouldn't do so well.
We decided to go Sunday night up to Hobble Creek Canyon. We stayed at Jolleys Ranch. We didn't get there until about 7pm. We search for the perfect campsite that would be big enough for our new tent then we started trying to set it up, it took over an hour I guess because we hadn't ever set it up before, so we didn't know exactly what we were doing. It also didn't help that Landon thought it was a game and wouldn't stop jumping and sitting on it... Luckily they have a new playground that I took him to while Dan finished setting up. When we came back it was dark and we still didn't have a fire or any of our bedding set up. So we had to do it in the dark. It was about 10pm when we got to roasting hot dogs and smores. Landon was afraid of the fire. He tensed up when I walked toward it then wanted daddy :) We didn't get to bed till about 11pm and by then my poor tired baby has been up 2 hours past bedtime and he can hardly hold his head up. We laid down on our full sized blow-up mattress and were way to crowded. I tried to make a small bed next to it for Landon but I wouldn't have anything to do with it. So Dan took our foam pad and laid next to us. That's when I realized that our air mattress was slowly leaking and would defiantly be flat in a few hours. We remade the bed and all climbed back in together. Finally Landon and Dan went to sleep. Of course I laid there tired, but awake. By 1am Landon woke up and "charge crawled" from where he was laying to the floor at the end of the bed and started crying. It was really weird. He snored and cried out a few more times and then we were up at 7:30am, about 1 1/2 hours before he normally wakes up, on a flat air mattress. We ate breakfast then went to the park and played for a little bit. Then we went back to the campsite to pack up. The whole time Landon was whining and crying yelling "Go! Go!" We were home by 10am.
We have a family camping trip coming up, it will be near Ogden hopefully if we go a few more nights before then, Landon will be ready!

  2. I figure Willard Bay has to be better, right?! As I was reading your account it brought back memories of camping trips with my kids. Always something is a surprise. You will look back in 20 years and laugh about all of this. It makes for great stories in the future. Love you!! And I love the new family picture.
